I
would like to invite you and your students to the 1st Annual Northeast Isshin
Ryu O.I.K.K.A Friendship Tournament
in Portsmouth, NH. This tournament
will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Portsmouth High School (directions
attached) starting at 10:00 a.m.. Registration will start at 8:00 a.m., Black
Belt meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. and the Weapons Division will start at
10:00 a.m. Please be on time.
We
are very excited to have special guest Master Chris Chase, the President
of O.I.K.K.A. attend the tournament. Thank
you in advance to Sensei Chase along with Sensei’s Devine and Rigby for
allowing us to take part in this great opportunity and to work together
in honor of Grandmaster Angi Uezu. We
appreciate their support and encouragement.
One-half of the profits from this tournament will be sent to Grandmaster
Uezu.
Enclosed
you will find relevant information and registration forms for your students.
Please make extra copies as needed.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
We are accepting pre-registrations through the mail or through fax
transmittals. Competitors will compete in the reverse order
that they register in the kata and weapons divisions; that is, the first
competitor to register will have the advantage of being the last to compete.
This
being our first year hosting an Isshin Ryu O.I.K.K.A. Friendship Tournament,
we are very excited to make new friends as well as see old friends we have
not seen in a long time. In addition
to entering our tournament, we hope you will find the time to enjoy some
of New Hampshire’s attractions such as whale watching, Isle of Shoals excursions,
Seacoast Science Center, Portsmouth Children’s Museum, beaches, and outlet
shopping just over the border in Kittery, Maine. Enclosed with each registration form is a Portsmouth Chamber of
Commerce booklet that provides you with more information on the area.

using rules similar to the Okinawa Karate & Kobudo World Tournament with
waza-aris (1/2 point) and ippons (full point) for sparring.
